AmeriCorps
AmeriCorps engages more than 80,000 Americans in intensive service at nonprofits, schools, public agencies, and community and faith-based groups across the country. These opportunities span a wide range of program areas, including:
- Environmental conservation
- Education
- Public health
- Disaster response
- Economic empowerment
Volunteers earn a living stipend and Education Award, which can be used towards student loans or future educational expenses. AmeriCorps offers both seasonal opportunities (typically in the summer) and year-long programs.
Peace Corps
Western’s graduates have a long history of serving in the Peace Corps. Volunteers serve in more than 60 countries, partnering with local communities on grassroots-driven projects in:
- Education
- Agriculture
- Community economic development
- Health, environment
- Youth development
