Career Assessments

Good academic and career decisions are based on a clear understanding of personal interests, skills, values, personality characteristics and lifestyle preferences. Western's Career Services Center offers three career assessments to help individuals gain greater self-awareness:

Strong Interest Inventory

Used by more than 70% of US colleges and universities, the Strong Interest Inventory is one of the world's most widely used and respected career planning tools. The Strong provides insight into interests, preferences and personal styles. The Strong helps individuals identify areas of study, activities, internships and jobs they're likely to enjoy. This assessment is fee based.

Myers Briggs Type Indicator

The Myers Briggs Type Indicator (MBTI) is the most widely used personality inventories in the world. The MBTI provides insight into an individual's preferred manner of taking in and evaluating information and their preferred styles of working, decision-making and communicating. This assessment is fee based.

My Next Move on O*Net

My Next Move is a FREE interactive tool that allows students to learn more about their career options. This tool will help you explore careers regardless of where you are in the major and career exploration process. If you have some career ideas in mind, My Next Move allows you to search a database of occupations and industries. If you are less sure about career ideas you can take the brief, guided Interest profiler I’m not really sure that will suggest careers and industries based on your interests.

We highly recommend seeing how your “My Next Move” results correspond to majors at Western!
